“Sometimes, all it takes is a warm meal to remind someone they’re not alone.”
About Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang
On May 9, 2025, CodeComplete volunteers visited Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang, a humble yet powerful community kitchen operated by the Lotus Charity Foundation. Situated in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang, this initiative aims to provide nutritious, low-cost or free meals to individuals and families facing economic difficulties.
Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang serves as a lifeline for many — from elderly citizens living alone, to disabled individuals, to daily wage workers struggling to make ends meet. With each meal priced at just 2,000 VND or entirely free, the kitchen offers more than food — it offers dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging.
What sets this kitchen apart is its atmosphere: every guest is welcomed with a warm smile, and every volunteer is treated as a valued part of a larger, compassionate effort.
CodeComplete at Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang
From 9:30 AM to noon, five CodeComplete team members immersed themselves in preparing and serving over 100 hot, home-cooked meals. Our tasks included:
-
Washing vegetables, slicing tofu, and prepping meat
-
Stir-frying and seasoning ingredients under guidance from local chefs
-
Arranging portions neatly and respectfully for each guest
-
Handing out meals with a smile and a kind word
-
Cleaning the kitchen and restoring the space for the next day’s service
The entire menu was proudly funded by CodeComplete, featuring:
-
Shredded chicken salad with Vietnamese coriander
-
Vegetarian stuffed bitter melon
-
Kimchi, hearty vegetable soup, and ripe bananas for dessert
Our volunteers noted how every step, from chopping ingredients to wiping down tables, felt meaningful. This wasn’t just another CSR activity. It was a moment of reconnection — with people, with values, and with the act of giving.
Impact That Goes Beyond the Meal
The impact of our time at Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang extended far beyond food. Conversations were shared, laughter echoed through the kitchen, and many of us left with stories we won’t forget.
One volunteer shared:
“What touched me most wasn’t the cooking — it was when one elderly woman clasped my hand and said thank you for simply being there. That moment stays with me.”
For some guests, this was their only hot meal of the day. For others, it was their only interaction with another person. We were reminded that even small gestures — a bowl of soup, a brief chat — can be powerful.
Why CodeComplete Supports Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang
This initiative reflects our belief that corporate responsibility should be rooted in real relationships. CodeComplete is committed to supporting Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang and similar grassroots organizations that deliver tangible impact with compassion and integrity.
Beyond our technology projects, we strive to remain deeply connected to the cities we work in. Whether through funding, volunteering, or simply showing up, we believe our role in the community is just as important as our role in the market.
Yen Vui Kitchen reminds us that even as we build digital solutions, the real power lies in human ones.
Looking Forward: Expanding Community Engagement
This is only the beginning. CodeComplete is continuously expanding our community initiatives in Da Nang and across Vietnam. We are currently exploring further partnerships with local non-profits focused on food security, education, and healthcare.
Through activities like our time at Yen Vui Kitchen Da Nang, we aim to encourage a culture of empathy within our teams and contribute to a more inclusive society. Our hope is to empower both volunteers and beneficiaries — because when we uplift others, we grow too.
We’re deeply grateful to the kitchen’s staff for welcoming us and to the Lotus Charity Foundation for their ongoing work in bringing meals and meaning to thousands each week.
